Detachment is Mindfulness
Hi, I’m Debby, founder of CWIST. We talk a lot about Mindfulness at CWIST. We talk about making space in the mind, about untangling life, whether from physical objects or socio-emotional static.
I’m 52 years old. I feel a lot of pain in my body, not only because I have a permanent mobility limitation condition, but also because of my age. I follow a routine coordinated by a Neurologist, Orthopedist and Nutritionist. I do quarterly checks. Still, I put into practice what we indicate here on social media.
A few days ago, in a 3rd age pilates class, the 72-year-old teacher (who is more “fitness” than most 20-year-old students in physical education college) ended the class with the following sentence:
“We try so hard to make room in our minds daily. We try to let go. We try to forgive. We try to ‘let go of the bone’ of recurring issues. We try to change habits. But, very rarely do we try to fit our minds into our bodies.”
Try! Close your eyes, sit up straight, lower your shoulders, keep your chin parallel to the floor, give space between your shoulder blades, and now place your mind in the thoracic region, between your heart, stomach and lungs.
When we visualize our minds directly connected to the organs of survival, it becomes easier to make room in the mind and cut the cables of our anchors to leave the organs free to perform their functions.
Try to do! It costs nothing. Well done, it takes 3 minutes. It’s 3 minutes that can change a whole life.
